The petition of Ann Bradley of Chipping, Lancashire, 10 April 1673

To the right wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace at ye Gen[er]all Quart[e]r Sessions of the peace to be houlden at Preston in Amondernes vpon Thursday the tenth day of Aprill 1673.

The humble petic[i]on of Ann Bradley of Chippin Widdow, late wife of Henry Bradley of Chippin affores[ai]d deceased.

Sheweth

That yo[u]r pet[itione]rs husband Henry Bradley was a listed souldier for his late Ma[jes]tie Kinge Charles the first, vnder the Com[m]and and in the Regim[en]t of Collonell S[i]r Thomas Tildsley and was w[i]th him at diu[e]rs fights and battells in ye same service and yt he was slayne in ye Great batle neare vnto Yorke as may appeare by a Certificate herevnto annexed vnd[e]r ye hands of diu[e]rs able and sufficient men, Inhabitants w[i]thin the said Towne of Preston afores[ai]d the sixteenth day of July in the Fifteenth yeare of ye Raigne of our Grac[i]ous Soveraigne Lord Kinge Charles ye second obteyned an ord[e]r here vnto likewise annexed for yearly penc[i]on of tenn shillings vntill furth[e]r ord[e]r w[hi]ch said yearely penc[i]on of tenn shillings hath beene duelie paid vnto her ever since ye said Ord[e]r was made but nowe soe it is yt shee is growne verrie ould and Impotent and had but one Cow onely in ye World to reliue her w[i]th wh[ic]h is latly dead soe yt smale penc[i]on w[hi]ch shee had will not supplie her wants accordinge to her great necessitie.

May it therefore please yo[u]r good Wor[shi]pps to take her deplorable Condition into yo[u]r serious and Iuditious Considerac[i]on and to grant her such an augmentac[i]on to her form[e]r penc[i]on as you in yo[u]r wisdome & discression shall thinke fittinge and requisite for her, and yo[u]r pet[itione]r as in dutie bound shall pray &c:
