The certificate for Trooper William Wiles, Richard Graves’s Regiment, 29 March 1648

These are to Certifie all whome itt may Concerne That William wiles being a Souldier from the 14th of June 1644 vntill the 27th of September 1646 In the Right Honor[a]ble Major Generall Skippons Troope vnder my Commande As by the Muster Roules will plainelie Appeare who behaued himselfe with much vallour And faithfullness in the Said service. In which Service he hath Receiued many Dangerous wounds to the hazzard of his life and the losse of the vse of one Arme In the last Service before Oxford vnder his Excell[en]cie the Lord Fairfax May the 6t 1646 Whereby he is become vnable and vnfitt for any Imployment in the like Service or to Follow his Callinge by which meanes he is become Destitute of any way for his Subsistance, Giuen vnder my hand
