The certificate for Trooper Symon Terrall, Nathaniel Rich’s Regiment, 3 January to 21 February 1649

Theise are to certifie whome it may Concerne That Symon Terrall serued as Trooper in my Troope in Collonell Rich his Regiment from the Twelveth daie of Aprill 1644 to the Thirde daie of January 1648. And that att the Feight at Maidston he lost his right eie; and receaued seuerall woundes and that he was Cured at his owne proper Charge at Maidston dureing all w[hi]ch time he demeaned himselfe as became a true faithfull and valient Souldier p[er]formeing good & faithfull Service for the State In testimony whereof I haue herevnto sett my hand this Third daie of January Anno D[o]m[ini] 1648

Tho[mas] Ireton:

This Gentleman being made vncapeable of serving longer in the wars, by reson of the wound he received in the service together w[i]th the losse of his eye, and being desirous to returne into his owne Countrye, to his friends; I doe therefore dischardge him and farther desire the Committee of the Armye to pay him his arrears, the better to inable him to returne thither.
