The certificate for Trooper Samuell Carter, Nathaniel Rich’s Regiment, 14 to 15 January 1649

These are to certify whom it may concerne that Samuell Carter was in actuall seruice for the Parl[iamen]t as private soldier in my troope in Col[one]l Rich his Regim[en]t from the begin[n]ing of ye New Modell of ye Army of his Ex[cellen]cie the Lord Fairfax In w[hi]ch seruice he behaued himselfe faithfully & as became a souldier, and att ye Fight against Sandowne Castle in Kent when the Prince Army landed he receaued a shott in his right shoulder & hath lost the vse of his Arme. In wittnesse whereof I hereunto sett my hand this 14th of January 1648 & have discharged him.
