The certificate for Simon Ramsey of London (St Andrew Holborn Parish), Middlesex, 21 December 1672

Wee whose names are herevnto written Parrishion[e]rs and Inhabitants of the Parrish of S[ain]te Andrew Holbourne London, doe hereby Certifie To all whome theis p[rese]nts shall come or may concerne, That this bearer Symon Ramsey and Ann his wife lived in this p[ar]ish before the begining of the late wars, in very honest repute, acquireing his livelihood, in a very industrious manner, And at the begining of the wars forsooke his habitac[i]on (And as itt appeares to vs) vndertooke the service of his late Ma[jes]tie King Charles the First, of ever Blessed memory, And in A[nn]o 1644 being taken a prison[e]r by the Parrliam[en]t forces, was com[m]itted to the Prison of the Gatehouse where hee a long tyme remained And in a very languishing Condic[i]on, And as soone as hee could obtaine his freedom, returned, and lived w[i]th his wife and family in our said p[ar]ish againe, where hee his wife and family thorough his greate care and industry lived very comfortably vntill now of late, That his greate age, and dimnesse of his sight comeing vpon him, Soe that hee is now thereby become very poore indigent and in greate want, And is a very greate Obiect {illegible} Charitie,
