The certificate for Roger Penn of Middleton, Warwickshire, May 1660

These are to certifie all Persons of hon[ou]r & Loyalty, That the Bearer hereof Roger Penn of Middleton in the County of Warwick gent[leman] during the times of the warrs in England against our late soveraigne Lord king Charles was a constant, loyall, & faithfull [illegible] subject and soldier in his Majesties service. since w[hi]ch time he hath continued his loyalty to our Royall soveraigne Lord king Charles the second, both at Wocester and other places: and in the late action of S[i]r George Booth he was personally assisting, for which severall services he hath been often imprison’d and plunder’d of all his livelihood.
