The certificate for Robert Steevenson, Cheshire, 31 January 1650

These may Certefie all whome it may concarne that the bearar heare of Rob[er]t Steevenson hath faithfully served the Parliment vndar my Comand three yeares lest [sic.] past as a Comon souldear and a Corp[or]all of Firelockes in which sarvice hee was severale times wounded by which hee hath Lost his Lyms and is all togeathar vnable to gett his Living haueing once the great Bone in his Arme severed in pecese and at anothar time vpon a sallie forth of Besston Castle the Great Bone of his Thigh Shott in peecese besides as it may apeare hath had divars othar Cuts and woundes. Thearefore I humbly praye that hee may Receiue as the rest of the Maimed Souldiars of this County doe and lykeways what hee is behind to make him equall with othars and I shall rest your thankfull sarvant.

Whearas this bearer is in great distress and misery by reason of his hurts receau[e]d in the Parliam[e]nts Seruice & of the want of that yearly Pension w[hi]ch hee hoped through your goodness to haue receaued accordinge as others which haue beene hurte and maymed in the sayd seruice, but beinge much behind hee humbly supplicates this hono[ura]ble Bench for reliefe, accordinge to the Contents of the Certificate aboue written, the truth whereof I ame able to Justify & to giue testimony of his fidelity & true seruice, which hee at all times p[er]formed with much care and vigilancy & soe I humbly leaue him to your Considerac[i]on & rest
