To all W{hom it} maie Concerne

Wee whose names as heervnto are subscribed vpon the iust and honest moc[i]on of the bearer heeerof Robert Mathewes of Vivod in the p[ar]ish of Llangollen in the Countye of Denbigh, doe certifie that hee hath bine manie yeares togeather in his late ma[jes]ties service of blessed memorie, aswell in the Countye of Salloppe as in diverse others places of England and Wales, where hee hath p[er]formed all true and loyall services, and hath bine euer and still is firme towardes his maiestie, and his Ancestor before him; and yet is constant soe much in his resoluc[i]on, that we are confident, hee would choose rather to dye in the service of his ma[jes]tie if occasion were offered (as God forbid there should bee anie) then to liue in other condic[i]on, contrarie to his ma[jes]ties Crowne, and dignitie; and w[i]thall that he hath had manie dangerous woundes and shotts in the said service, w[hi]ch hath altogeather disinabled him, to work or labor, for his future subsistence, All w[hi]ch we thought good to certifie vnder our hands, dated this tenth daye of Februarie Februarie Anno Regni Carol[us] Secund[i] Anglie &c Decimo quinto Anno D[om]in[i] 1662:
