These are to certify all whom it may concerne that Richard Hillard of Taunton afores[ai]d Cordwayn[er] during the seu[er]all seiges therof was a faithfull Souldier vnder the com[m]aund of Capt[ain] Thomas Trowbridge in the Regim[en]t of Col[one]l Robert Blake And that by his constant lyeing on the lynes therof day & night through wett and cold he got such a swelling in his leggs w[hi]ch hath sithence broken forth into diuers wounds incureable as that therby he is fallen into a very sad condic[i]on and disenabled therby to gett maintenance for himselfe his wife & three small children In testimony wherof wee haue heervnto sett o[u]r hands this Sixth daye of October 1652.
