Gentlemen

This Bearer Capt[ain] Joseph Smith hath beene one that hath suffered very much in the late warrs besides the Losse of his Limbs, And he making his Appeall to Our County for Some releife As a maimed Souldier in the yeare 1650 there was by an Order Att the Generall Sessions held at Warmester a penc[i]on of 10 li. p[er] Ann[um] setled vpon him for his p[re]sent Subsistance; his Arrears being not paid him, so Sattisfacc[i]on for the same he declaring against the force putt on the Parliam[en]t in 1648, As wee haue beene Credibly informed, And haue seene it Attested from Persons of quality that he hath beene very beneficiall and Serviceable to many of the Late Kings freinds, in protecting them from being plundered And seuerall other ways hath served them. Therefore wee whose names are Subscribed desire that he may haue that Penc[i]on Continued to him for his subsistence. Giuen vnder Our hands the Eleauenth day of December Anno Dom[ini] 1660
