The certificate for John Lewes of Gwersyllt, Denbighshire, 8 July 1648

These are to certifie all whom it may concerne that the bearer heerof John Lewes hath serued as a souldier in my company from ye 8th day of June 1642 tell the 15 of January 1647 duering all w[hi]ch time he hath behaued himselfe as an honest & obedient souldier readily yelding vnto all my com[m]ands as a souldier ought to doe, & hath been often wou[n]ded to ye hazard of his life as he hath had his skull broken & at the houlte leagure lost the vse of one hand so that he is altogather vnable to get his liuing

In wittnes wherof I haue put to my hand & seale the day & yeare aboue written
