The humble Certificate of the inhabitants of Gowseworth whose names are subscribed

Sheweth vnto yo[u]r wor[shi]pps That whereas John Johnson of our Town[shi]pp was formerly wounded in the Arme at Farndon, vnd[e]r the Com[m]and of Capt[ain] John Leadbeather by w[hi]ch wound he became Lame & vnable to gett his mainetenance And therevppon had twentie shillings form[e]rly allowed him towards his mainetenance & of late but 13 s. 4 d. yearly w[hi]ch is a very small Pension towards the mainetaineinge of himself & family he beinge vtterly Lame & vnable (as vppon the veiwe of his Arme will appeare) to doe little towards his livelyhood, And in regard wee paye yearly forth of o[u]r town[shi]pp towards the relief of Maymed souldiers (and haue noe more Pension[e]rs amongst vs) the some of 3 li. 6 s. 8 d. Therefore wee intreat yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to Consider the sayd deplorable Condic[i]on of yo[u]r sayd Pensioner And afford him yearly Fourtie shillings forth of the sayd 3 li. 6 s. 8 d. w[hi]ch wee submitt to yo[u]r wor[shi]pps Considerac[i]on and Subscribe o[u]r selues
