The certificate for Joane Pixley and Mary Abell of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, 11 July 1657

Whereas wee some of the Inhabitants of Vttoxeter formerly presented our Certificate on the part and behalf of Joane Pixley and Mary Abell two poore widdowes of our said towne And being now informed that some doe goe about to w[i]thstand the truth of the same, and to bereaue the said widdows of the pention w[hi]ch was granted to them vpon that Certificate Wee doe hereby humbly Continue the said Certificate and declare to all whom it may anie wise concerne that Edward Pixley and George Abell husbands of the said Joane and Mary were very Constant and faithful to the parliament and in the seruice thereof were both slaine neere Tutbury And left their said poore wiues vtterly destitute of meanes for lyvelyhood, who still are in a poore estate not haueing sufficient wherewithall to sustaine themselves and those that depend vpon them. And therefore wee doe humbly intreat that those small pentions formerly allotted and Allowed vnto them may be still granted and continued.
