To all whome these Gents shall come greetinge I Thomas Barton of Brigstocke in the County of North[amp]ton[shire] gent[leman] heretofore Capt[ain] of a Troope of horse vnder the Com[m]and of Colonell S[i]r Jervase Lucas at Belvoir Castle doe humbly certifye that John Bearsley of Aldwincle in the County of North[amp]ton[shire] Farrier was a Trooper in the Troope of S[i]r Jervase Lucas and behaued himselfe as a Faithfull and valliant Souldier an{d} that he is truely Loyall And hath never deserted his Ma[jes]t[y]s or his blessed Fathers seruice duringe the late times of Rebellion and vsurpac[i]on, and to the best of my knowledge soe continues Giuen vnder my hand & Seale this seaventh day of July in the yeare of our Lord 1662.
