<Gent[lemen]>
This Bearer James Swayne as appeares by his certificate subscribed by Colo[nel] Ludlow, did serue the Parliam[en]t in yo[u]r County at Malbrough, where he receiued diu[e]rs wounds, his allyance and freinds by reason of their greate disafecc[i]on to the Parliam[en]t will not afford him any releif, Our desire to you is, being disinabled to liue in his form[er] calling, that you wil be pleased to giue him an allowance for his support or a considerable p[ro]porc[i]on of money w[hi]ch may keepe him from being reduced to very greate straits, The wounded soldier having lost his blood and strenght for the Parliament, and in yo[u]r p[ar]ticuler service, suffer vs to minde yow, that both Conscyence & hono[u]r calleth on you to keep him from sterving; by granting our iust desires yow will encourage the rest of his fellow soldiers in his Condic[i]on cheerefully to vndergoe soe greate a burthen as is the expence of blood and the loozing of a lymme, and obleidge
