The certificate for Humphrey Briskoe of Newton juxta Chester, City and County of Chester, 17 July 1660

Whereas the bearer hereof Humphrey Briskoe; doth alledge that hee was promised by the Constables of Newton iuxta Chester maintenance and releife, in Case hee wo{ul}d goe as a soldier for their towne in August last, & were wounded or maymed in the service. This is to Certifye That hee the s[ai]d Humphrey Briskoe, was enlisted at that tyme for the s[ai]d townshipp vnder my Com[m]and being then Comissinated to lead a foote Company vnder the Right Hon[oura]ble S[i]r George Booth Generall for the service of his Ma[jes]tie & procuring the peace of this kindome [sic.].
