I vnder written Col[one]l of a Regim[en]t of foot in the kingdomes of England & Ireland in the service of Charles the first King of England Scotland France & Ireland of blessed memorey doe certifie those whome it may concerne that Hugh Eyton did faithfull [sic] serve his late Ma[jes]tie as a souldier vnder my com[m]and & never discerted his ma[jest]ie[s] service vntill the end of the warre nor never did take armes in the service of the Parliam[en]t. Given vnder my hand & seale the 7th of 7ber 1665
