The certificate for Gyles Smallen of North Bradley, Wiltshire, 28 September 1661

To the R[igh]t worshipfull, the Kings Ma[jes]ties Justices, in Marleburgh at the q[uar]ter Sessions assembled.
May it please yo[u]r worships, to bee certifyed by we th[e] inhabitants of Southweeke in the p[ar]ishe of North Bradley in the countie of Wiltes[hire], (whose names are hereunto subscribed) that the bearer heerof, Gyles Smallen of the same parishe & countie Clothweaver, in or aboute the time, menc[i]oned in his petic[i]on exhibited at the last Sessions, was prest by o[u]r Tythingman for his Ma[jes]ties service, And wee beleeve, that in the same seruice hee was shot in one of his legs, whereby hee hath ever since beene disabled to worke at his [illegible] occupac[i]on, besides the greate paynes trauell & expence, the poore man hath endured and beene at, for the care thereof, to the vndooinge of himselfe, his poore wife & familye, And this, wee shal bee readie to verefye whensoeu[er] wee shal bee thereunto cald In the Interim, in testimonye hereof, wee have hereunto put o[u]r handes, humbly craving pardon for o[u]r boldnes & resting
