The second petition of Nicholas Dench of Ashburton, Devon, 1686

To the Wor[shi]p[fu]ll John Beare Esq[uire] and other his Majestyes Justices of the peace at ye Castle of Exon in full Sessions assembled.
The humble petic[i]on of Nicholas Dench of Ashburton in the County of Devon Cordwinder.
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r peticon[e]r was a souldier maymed in his late Majestyes service & therein received diverse wounds & bruises, That yo[u]r peticon[e]r through the beneficence of this Courte hath a yearely penc[i]on of thirty shillings, But yo[u]r peticon[e]r through the wounds & Bruises aforesaid is now become farr more impotent & decrepid & consequently farr more unable to work & maintayne himselfe then before.
Yo[u]r poore peticon[e]r therefore humbly prayes yo[u]r wor[shi]ps to grant unto him such an addition to his sayd yearly penc[i]on as to yo[u]r wor[shi]ps clemency & yo[u]r p[e]t[itione]rs great necessity shall seeme meete.
And yo[u]r peticon[e]r shall ever pray &c.
I believe ye contents of this Petition to be true.
