The second petition of Henry Traunter of Hereford (St Owen’s Parish), Herefordshire, 1665 to 1668

To the Right Wor[shipf]ull Robert Symonds Esq[uire] Mayor of the Cittie of Hereff[ord] and to the rest of the Kinge Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace of and for the same
The humble petic[i]on of Henrie Traunter of this Cittie Bricklayer a verie poore man aged 93 yeares & vpwards Charged w[i]th a wife & 2 Children whoe doth most humbly
Shewe
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r did form[er]ly petic[i]on yo[u]r good Wor[shi]pps for an Almeshouse but none as yet is Confirmed vpon him and now hee lyes a languishnig vpon his Bed of Sickenes and not able to helpe himself his wife and poore family as form[er]ly by his hard labour and industrie hee was wont to doe. whoe are all of them allmost ready to p[er]ishe for want
Wherefore yo[u]r pet[itione]r most humbly pray That yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps would be pleased for the pr[e]sent to Extend yo[u]r Charitable benevolence vnto him for his pr[e]sent Succo[u]r and relief & for the future in Case the Lord should restore him to his form[er] health to Confirme vpo[n] him an Almeshouse as soone any should happen to be voide w[i]thin yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps graunt for ye reasons afores[ai]d And pet[itione]r, his wife & Children shall ever pray &c.
