The petition on behalf of Orphan Harrison of Eccleston, Lancashire, 19 July 1652

To the wor[shi]p[fu]l Bench the Justices of the peace att the Session of peace holden att Orm[skir]k the 16th 19th of July 1652.
The humble petic[i]on of Tho[mas] Yale of Mawdesley husbandm[an]
Sheweth that whereas yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er havinge for this two yeares & A halfe kept and nursed A Child of John Harrisons of Eccleston husbandman, after the rate of Fowertye Eight Shillinges A yeare, now ytt hath soe pleased god to take the said John Harrison to his mercie who was in Service in Scotland for ye Parliam[en]t, soe yt yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er is not Capeable of any Further payem[en]t for the said Child, yo[u]r
yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]ers humble prayer is that the said Child maye bee taken awaye from yo[u]r peti[tione]r and maynteyned in the towne of Eccleston where ytt was borne and lawfullye begotten, and yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er shall pray &c
