The humble Pet[itio]n of Margrett Pemberton of the County of Chest[e]r widdowe

<In all humbleness> Sheweth

That yo[u]r pet[itione]rs late husband John Pemberton being a Farriar by his profession; for the good and welfare of the Com[m]on wealth of England proceeded in service against the knowne and com[m]on enemyes thereof and was entertayned in the Troope then [illegible] vnd[e]r the Comand of Capt[ain] Thomas Empson; for the service of Scotland some Five yeares as will appe[ar] by good testimonye.

That in the said service against the enemye of the said Com[m]onwealth of England yo[u]r pet[itione]rs said husband John Pemberton was slayne and lost his life leavinge yo[u]r pet[itione]r and her distressed familye in a deplorable condic[i]on and soe remeane to this day.

And Inasmuch as yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath not as yet receaued any releefe for the losse of her husbands life; or benefitt of his Arreares.

Yo[u]r poore pet[itione]rs humble request is that yo[u]r wor[shi]pps would be favorably pleased to grant her such a penc[i]on for the preservac[i]on and livelyhood of her and hers for the tyme to come as yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps shall thinke meete
