The petition on behalf of Lady Anna Arundel of Trerice, Cornwall, and John and Hugh Trevanyon of Caerhays, Cornwall, July 1660

To the Kings Most Excellent Majestie.

The humble petic[i]on of Richard Arundell of Terrise in the County of Cornwall Esquire and Nicholas Arundell gentleman. In the behalfe of the relict of John Trevanyon deceased and his two sonnes John and Hugh Trevanyon.

Humbly sheweth

That John Trevanyon of Canyhayes in the County of Cornwall Esq[ui]r[e] deceased haueing in his life time raised and maintayned a Regiment of Cornish Souldiers for the service of yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties Royall father of ever blessed memory in the late warrs, and being slaine in the assault of Bristoll, yo[u]r Maiestie was gratiously pleased in consideration thereof and vpon significac[i]on of yo[u]r Royall fathers pleasure in that behalfe by yo[u]r warrant dated the Nynth of July in the one and Twentieth yeare of his Raigne vnder the signe manuell of yo[u]r then Highnesse to direct a bill to bee prepared for a lease to bee made of the Parke of Restormell in the County of Cornwall and three acres of wood and a place called Trinity Chappell within the said Parke (Except the Castle of Restormell) vnto yo[u]r pet[itione]r for ninety nine yeares to com[m]ence after the determinac[i]on of a former lease since determined if John Trevanyon and Hugh Trevanyon younger sonns of the said John Trevanyon deceased or either of them should soe long live vnder severall rents amounting to Twenty Eight pounds and seaven shillings per annu[m] in trust for dame Anna Arundell now wife of sir John Arundell relict of the said John Trevanyon deceased dureing her life, and afterwards in trust for the said John Trevanyon the sonne dureing his life and after in trust for the said Hugh Trevanyon dureing the residue of the said Terme, But by reason of the late vnhappy troubles the same was never Executed.

Yo[u]r pet[itione]rs therefore humbly beseech yo[u]r Ma[jes]tie that you would bee gratiously pleased to renew yo[u]r warrant for a lease to bee made to yo[u]r pet[itione]rs according to yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties former direcc[i]ons, that soe yo[u]r intended favor may become effectuall to the relict and Children of the said John Trevanyon according to yo[u]r Royall fathers pleasure and yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties most gratious concession.

And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall ever pray &c.
