The petition of Wyneffrett Badg, Nottinghamshire, 30 January 1645

To ye Hon[er]able Com[mi]ttee of parlam[en]t at Nott[ingham]
The Humble petition of Wyneffrett Badg a poore widdow whoe most Humblye sheweth to this Hon[our]able Com[m]itte] that y[ou]r petition[e]rs Husband was sleyne in this s[er]vice att Wynffeild mann[o]r & left yo[u]r poor petition[e]r w[i]th 3 Children & one in her belly w[hi]ch she is latelye Churched & very weake & poore.
That yo[u]r petiti[one]rs was Husband was behynd ffor 23 weeks paye as a Comon souldgier v li. vii s. iiii d. & ffor xixteene weeks paye at 7 s. p[er] ye week 6 li. 13 s. as a Corporrall and ffor 22 weekes paye att 10 s. vi d. p[er] ye week as a sargant. All w[hi]ch Amounts to xxiii li. xi s. iiii d., of w[hi]ch the [illegible] yo[u]r petition[e]rs Husband Rec[ieved] 10 s., 7 s., & 42 s. [total] — ii li. xvi s. Soe yt att his death being on Lamasse daye there was dew to him ffor paye xx li. 12 s. 4 d.
That yo[u]r petiti[o]n[e]r hath had of this Honourable Com[m]ittee sinse her Husband died tenne pounds w[hi]ch was all or most p[ar]t gone for soone as it cam[e] to her hands ffor debts owing
Thatt yo[u]r petition[ne]rs most Humble sute is to lett her have monyes to buy her a Cupple of Cowes to give her & her Children milke & other meynetenance shee having made p[er]sist ever as long as shee can by her selffe & ffrends
And shee & her poore fatherlesse Children all dulye bynde them will eu[er] preye &c.
30 Jan[uary] 1644: It is order[e]d that the Pet[itione]r shall have xx s. paid out of the Treasury this night and foure pounds more on Saturday next and this shall be the Tre][asure]rs war[ran]t herein.
