The petition of William Wilson of Gisburn, West Riding of Yorkshire, 8 November 1677

To the right Wor[shi]pp[fu]ll his Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of ye peace at the private Sess[ion]s of ye peace held at Gisburne the eight of November [16]77.
The humble pettic[i]on of Will[ia]m Wilson of ye p[ar]ish of Gisburne in ye West ridd[ing] of this County of Yorke
Humbly sheweth,
That yo[u]r pettic[i]oner serv[ed] his late Ma[jes]tye vid[e]l[ice]t King Charles ye First of blessed memorie as a troop[er] in Collonell Waltons Regiment vnd[e]r the Commaund of one Captaine Byard for ye space of three yeares and found himselfe horse and armes and in ye s[ai]d service received sev[e]rall wounds in his bodie at Mountgunimerie fight and at Kneasbie feild and other places by reason of which he is disabled for following any implom[en]t and hee is falne into great povertie
The pr[e]misses Considered hee humbly prayes yo[u]r Worr[shi]pps would bee pleased to recommend him as an obiect of Charitie to ye next quarter sess[ion]s of ye peace to bee houlden at Weatherbie in January next as a lame souldier to be admitted penc[i]oner there in ye roome of one Jno [three illegible words] Pilkinton of Mitton who is dead and hee as in duty bound will dayly pray.
Wee beeleive ye Contents of ye pettic[i]on to bee true and desires hee may receive ye above menc[i]oned penc[i]on penc[i]on Wittnesse our hands ye day and yeare aboves[ai]d
