The petition of William Lepper of Towcester, Northamptonshire, Trinity 1670

To the right wo[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace for the County of North[amp]ton[shire].

The humble petic[i]on of William Lepper

Humbly Sheweth.

That yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r and his father & Grandfather have all been in their livetimes in service for his royall Ma[jes]tie that now is & his Ma[jes]ties Predecessors being ever faithfull & loyall Subiects to his sacred Ma[jes]tie & his Pr[e]decessors. Now yo[u]r pet[itione]r is an Inhabitant in Towcester and hath a sonne in his Ma[jes]ties service who leaving a child behind him yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r hath been forced ever since by his hand labour & industry to provide for and maintaine the s[ai]d child but is noe longer able to maintaine the same being incapacitated to undergoe that hard labour & paines w[hi]ch he hath formerly done by reason of his age being 69 yeares old & the infirmitys attendant upon that age.

His humble petic[i]on therefore is that yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps would be pleased to take his sad & deplorable condic[i]on into yo[u]r pious & charitable considerac[i]on & to grant forth yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps Order that he may receive some weakly allowances towards the releife of his poore Grand daughter as yo[u]r Wo[rshi]pps in yo[u]r wisedomes shall thinke meete

And he shall daily pray &c.
