The petition of William Kerrison of Milton Green, Cheshire, Epiphany 1647

To the right Hon[oura]ble the deputie Leiuten[an]ts for the Countie Pallatine of Chester.
The humble petition of William Kerrison of Milton Greene nere Handley
Humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r Petic[i]oner hath beene a foote souldier in the service of the kinge and Parliam[en]t vnder the Comaund of Colonell William Massie eu[er] since the begininge of theis troublesom times in the Countie of Chester And at the last assault made by the Parliam[en]t Forces against the Cittie of Chester yo[u]r petic[i]oner beeing comaunded vpon the forlorne hope to storme the walls of the said Cittie yo[u]r petic[i]oner was twice cast of a scaleinge Ladder and with the violence of stones cast forth of the Cittie vpon yo[u]r petic[i]oner hee was greiuously wounded whereby hee was constrained to lye a longe time vnder the Chyvrgeons hands & to haue one of his toes cutt of to pr[e]vent the losse of his Foote w[hi]ch is not yet cured.
The pr[e]misses considered yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner not haueing any meanse to maintaine him humbly craueth yo[u]r gracious assistaunce that you will be please to allott him such yearely maintaynance as you haue don to other maimed souldiers or shall in your wisdoms thinke fitt & as in dutye bound he will eu[er] pray for yo[u]r happinesse.
To obteyne Certificate from the Commaund[e]r vnd[e]r whom hee served of his mayme in service of king and Parliament.
