The petition of William Jones of King’s Cliffe, Northamptonshire, Trinity 1675

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace of and for the County of North[amp]ton[shire].

The humble Petic[i]on of William Jones of Kings Cliffe in the afores[ai]d County of North[amp]ton[shire] Labourer.

Humbly sheweth

That whereas yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner was a foot souldier in ye Regim[en]t of the Right Hon[oura]ble the Lord Camnden, in ye Company of Capt[ain] Thomas Sheffeilde in his late Ma[jes]ties service & behaved himselfe with faithfulnesse & courage in seu[er]all services & continued therein vntill the end of the late warrs as by Certificate vnder the hand of the said Right Hon[oura]ble the Lord Camnden, it doth & may app[ear]e And whereas also yo[u]r s[ai]d poore Petic[i]on[er] was a souldjer at Edgehill vnder ye Com[man]d of Collon[e]ll Griffin, as by Certificate vnder ye hand of ye s[ai]d Collonell Griffin it doth & may also app[ear]e And whereas afterwards yo[u]r s[ai]d poore Petic[i]on[er] was an Elder Sarjeant in ye Life-Guard of his Ma[jes]tie King Charles the First of ever blessed Memory vnder the Com[man]d of Capt[ain] John Beeton, And whereas yo[u]r said poore Petic[i]on[er] had an Order granted him at the Gen[er]al Sessions to receive a yearly Pention of thirty shillings to be paid him at eu[er]y Quarter Sessions by Equall porc[i]ons by the Treasurer of the East Division of this County, And the first paym[en]t thereof to begin at ye Sessions of Epiphan[y] In ye nineteenth yeare of ye Reigne of o[u]r Sou[er]eigne Lord Charles the Second, now King of England &c As by ye s[ai]d Order it doth & may more fully & at large appeare

May it therefore please yo[u]r Wo[shi]pps to graunt to yo[u]r s[ai]d poore Petic[i]on[er] an Order for ye Augmentac[i]on of Ten shillings p[er] ann[um] to your s[ai]d poore Petic[i]on[er]s penc[i]on, & to receive the Arreares of yo[u]r s[ai]d poore Petic[i]oners Penc[i]on w[hi]ch still remain vnpaid.

And yo[u]r Petic[i]oner shall eu[er] pray &c.

Lett this peti[ti]on[e]rs order bee encreased 10 s.
