The petition of William Jones of Bodenham, Herefordshire, 1684 to 1685

To the Right Wor[shipf]ull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace of and for the County of Hereford

The humble petic[i]on of William Jones a poore man aged 70ty yeares and vpwards

Shewe

That yo[u]r pet[itione]r was a Souldier in his late Ma[jes]ties Service, King Charles the first of ever blessed memory in the late times of vsurpac[i]on, vnder the Comaund of Captaine Thomas Bray in ye Regiment of Sir Jacob Ashley in which service he (yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r was wounded at Nasby fight and never as yet had any penc[i]on or any thing for his service done (though he was true and faithfull to his prince and principles w[i]thout desertic[i]on & was prest for the Service out of the parish of Bodenham where yo[u]r pet[itione]r was borne.

Wherefore he now prayes Order for a penc[i]on to be Confirmed vpon him And yo[u]r pet[itione]r as in duty bound shall ever pray &c

continued his 6 d. a weeke in bread
