The petition of William Jenkenson of Lonsdale Hundred, Lancashire, Midsummer 1672

To the Right worrshipp[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace and Quor[um] att the Gen[er]all Sessions of peace holden att Lancaster for the hundred of Lonsdall for the said County.
The humble petic[i]on of William Jenkenson one of the maymed souldiers w[i]thin the hundred of Lonsdall
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r hath rec[eiv]ed a smale pention for seu[er]all yeares past and it is very smale towards his maintainance he being Extreame poore & needy and hath nothing where with to maintaine himselfe vpon & his wyfe & two Children save that smale alloeance therefore therefore yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r humbly beggs hee being now in very old age that his allowance may be Augmented hee hasserding his life in his Ma[jes]ties service of blessed memory and his ma[jes]tie that now is and never decerted the same to his great loss and ponverton therefore humbly beggs releife
May it therefore please yo[u]r good worshipps to seriously Consider the sadd Condic[i]on of yo[u]r poor petic[i]on[e]r whereby he may be Considered w[i]th some Competent some of releife & he in duety bound will ever pray &c.
