The petition of William Heyes of Kersley, Lancashire, 25 July 1678

To the right wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace and Quoru[m] att the Sessions of the peace houlden at Manchest[e]r the 25th day of July An[n]o Dom[in]i 1678.
The humble petic[i]on of William Heyes of Kersly
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r wor[ship]s pet[itione]r was a Souldier in his Late Ma[jes]ties Service in all or most parte of the late vnhappy Warrs in England in w[hi]ch Service hee was four times Shott, besides other wounds hee rec[eive]d to the great disinableing of his whole body, but more Especially was maimed in his right Arme & Legge by reason whereof together w[i]th the Sadd Losse of those helpes & Comforts hee formerly rec[eive]d from his wife, Joyned w[i]th his Ould age yo[u]r wor[shi]ps pet[itione]r is now in a very sadd Lamentable & necessitous Condic[i]on haveing neither frends to helpe him, nor Estate to Supply him Save onely the yearly pension of Ten shillings allowed him out of the County Stocke.
May it therefore please yo[u]r good wor[shi]ps to take the pr[e]misses into Considerac[i]on And to Augment ye said yearly pension towards the reliefe of yo[u]r poore distressed pet[itione]r And hee shall Ever pray &c:
