The petition of William Gulford of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, Epiphany 1671

To the right hon[oura]ble and wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for the County of Northampton[shire]
The humble petic[i]on of William Gulford of Wellingborowe in the sayd county weaver
Humbly sheweing vnto yo[u]r hono[ur]s that yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r was heertofore a souldier for the late kings Ma[jes]tie vnder the Com[m]aund of the right ho[oura]ble the Earle of Northampton. And neuer was on the Contrary part, But yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r retorneing home to his wife and sixe Children and being a very poore man and nothing but his labour to mayntaine him his wife and family and being growen aged and infirme is nowe in poverty & misery Wheerefore his humble suite vnto yo[u]r hono[u]rs is that you will bee favourablely pleased to consider his poore state And to graunt and Vouchesaffe vnto your poore pet[itione]r a Pention to helpe something towards the Releiffe of him and his children, And hee & they as in duty bound shall euer pray for yo[u]r hono[u]rs & wor[shi]pps healths & happinesse
We conceiue it fit yt the petitioner herein mentioned should have his pention restored to him
