The petition of William Gruffyth of Llangian, Carnarvonshire, 1660

To ye wor[shipfu]ll ye Justices of ye peace for this County of Carn[ar]von
The humble petic[i]on of Will[ia]m Gruffyth of Llangian in ye sayd County.

That whereas y[ou]r peti[tio]ner haueing served in ye late warres, for many years, dureing which tyme hee hath been true & faythfull, in doeing good service, with ye eagernes of his seale & fidelity, wherein y[ou]r peti[tio]ner hath rec[eive]d diuers greevious & dangerous wounds with diuers kinds of weapons, whereby y[ou]r peti[tio]ner is disabled to doe or performe any maner of worke or Labour, for ye Mayntenance of himself, & fiue small Children (being by Gods p[ro]vidence deprived of his wife, w[hi]ch was his & smale childrens mayne support
Y[ou]r pet[itione]r therefore humbly prayeth that you would pleased [sic.] to com[m]iserate his & smale childrens Case & to take it [illegible] into your serious Considerac[i]on, And to adde to that smale porc[i]on, which he receaues out of ye maymed souldiers mize, towards y[ou]r peti[tio]ners mayntenance, as to y[ou]r worshipps shall thinke expedient,
And your pet[itio]ner shall euer pray
