The petition of William Gainwell of Buerton, Cheshire, Trinity 1664

To the Right Worshipfull the Kings Maiestyes Justices of the peace for the County Pallatyne of Chester.
The humble petic[i]on of William Gainwell of Buerton in the parysh of Audlem and County aforesayde.
Submissiuely sheweth.
That wheras your petic[i]oner haueinge bin a foote souldier in his late Maiestyes seruice of blessed Memory vnder the Co{mman}d of Captayne Randall Egerton in the Regiment of Collonell Gerrard in the late rebellion in this kingdome he beinge faythfull in his Maiestyes seruice from the first to the Last your petic[i]oner being sore wounded in his Maiestyes seruice at the fight of Boulton whereby your petic[i]oner beinge now a poore impotent Creature and aged is brought into a discapacity of helpinge himselfe haueinge nothinge at all to subsist vpon but what good well affected people out of their Charity bestow vpon him whereby your petic[i]oner is in danger to be sterued, vnlesse your Wor[sh]ipps afford your petic[i]oner some releiffe.
The pr[e]misses Considered May it please your Wor[sh]pips [sic.] out of your tender pitty and p[ro]videntiall Care of your petic[i]oners Misery to afford to your petic[i]oner some releiffe ether by penc[i]on or otherwise as shall seeme best in yo[u]r [illegible] wisdome. And your petic[i]oner as in duty bounden shall euer pray.
