The petition of William Furchill of Marwood, Devon, 1672

To the right Wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]tis Justices of the peace At the generall Quarter Sessions held for the County of Devon now assembled
The humble petic[i]on of William Furchill of Marwood within the said County
<Sheweth>
That whereas yo[u]r pet[itione]r in true Loyaltie served his late Ma[jes]tie of famous memory in ye late vnhappy Warr wherein he was wounded to his vtter mayming and vtterly disabled to gett a liuelyhood That about 10 yeares since at his now Ma[jes]ties happy restorac[i]on yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps in considerac[i]on of the premisses did order yo[u]r pet[itione]r 30 s. p[er] annu[m] to be paid him for Tearme of his life out of the Tresury for Maymed Souldiers w[hi]ch he hath euer since receiued except for our Lady day Quarter last past w[hi]ch was kept from him meerly because the Constables that paid in ye Marshall Rate to Mr Williams the Treasurer, Did omit and forgett to demand the Quarterlidge for him as formerly they did allwaies doe, And thereupon the treasurer thought that yo[u]r pet[itione]r had beene dead because the Quarter was not demanded, And now tells yo[u]r pet[itione]r that he cannot pay yo[u]r pet[itione]r that Quarter soe omitted w[i]thout he haue an order from yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps
Hee therefore humbly prayeth That yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps would be pleased to direct yo[u]r order to ye said Treasurer for the paym[en]t of the Lady day Quarter last past (and soe omitted) to yo[u]r pet[itione]r
And he shall pray &c.
