The petition of William Fletcher of Brereton, Cheshire, Epiphany 1661

To the Right wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices of the Peace at the Quarter Sessions at Northwich

The humble petic[i]on of W[illia]m Fletcher of Brereton Inkeeper

<Sheweth>

That shortly after the fight at Winington Bridge one Henry Sherwood of the towneship of Brereton aforesaid who went for a soldier for that towne returned home being shot through the Body at the aforesaid fight: and made his application to your pet[itione]r intreating his assistance for the cure of his said wound which your pet[itione]r vndertooke and by the blessing of god vpon his endeavor cured the said Henry Sherwood of the said wound: for recompence of which said Cure and paines taken by your pet[itione]r the assessons of the said towne ship of Brereton laid a Lay to satisfie your pet[itione]r both for his necessary Disbursem[en]t and paines but some of the Inhabitants of the said towneship haue refused to pay without some order from the Justices of the peace in the premises

The premises considered your pet[itione]r humbly prayes your order for the gathering of soe much moneyes as is Justly due to yuor pet[itione]r by reason of the pr[e]mises or that your worr[shi]ps will bee pleased to appoint what your pet[itione]r shall haue and order paym[en]t [illegible] by the said Towneship And your pet[itione]r as in Duty bound shall pray &c
