The petition of William Euxton of Leyland, Lancashire, 13 April 1662
To the right wor[shipfu]l the Justices of peace and Quor[um] att the Sessions holden att Ormischurch for the Countie Palatine of Lancaster this 13th of Aprill 1662.
The humble pettic[i]on of William Euxton of Leyland, dawber
Humbly sheweth vnto yo[u]r wor[shi]ps that whereas yo[u]r poore suppliant haueing beene bred and borne within the s[ai]d Townesh[i]p of Leyland and his Ancestors before him, and hath beene theire presst for a soldier for his Late Ma[jes]ties service in the begining and before these Last warrs, for the s[ai]d Townsh[i]p Two of which tymes hee was forced to hyre in his stead vpon his owne Charg[e]s which cost yo[u]r pettic[i]on[er] a great deale of monie to his vtter vndoeing: And since hee hath Liued in the next adiacent Towne for a Certaine space of tyme who hath now banished him from thence. Hee therefore being old and impotent did adress him self vnto his owne Townsh[i]p againe in hope to finde some releife there, who Lykewise indeauors to vse the Lyke Rigour towards him: (the premisses Considered) your poore pettic[i]on[er] humbly craues yo[u]r wor[shi]ps would bee pleased to take it into yo[u]r serious Considerac[i]ons and pr[e]scribe some waies for the setlm[en]t of yo[u]r poore suppliant in his Aboade now in his old age. And hee shal bee eu[er] bound to pray for yo[u]r healthes and happiness.
