The petition of William Else, Derbyshire, 25 September 1648

To the ho[noura]ble Com[m]ittee for the County of Derby.
The humble Petic[i]on of William Else one of the souldiers in this County vnder the com[m]and of Captaine Greenwood & Lieutenant Wayne at Willoughby fight.
Humbly sheweth That whereas yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r was dangerously wounded in that fight & lost his horse there worth x li. with sadle bridle a case of Pistols and other things there also of his to the value of iii li. viii s. and also oweth to others for his quarteridge in the County & County [sic.] of the towne of Nott[ingham] where he remained till he was able to come from thence about xxxii s. being in all sixteene poundes yt pleased yo[u]r hon[ou]rs to order viii li. for yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r in p[ar]te in p[ar]te of satisfaction towards his losses w[hi]ch he hath already received but it cometh too p[re]sent by viii li. of his losses.
yo[u]r Petic[i]oners humble desire is that it wold please yo[u]r ho[nou]rs to order a further supply for him as you in yo[u]r wisdomes shall thinke meet. And yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r as in duty shall be bound to pray &c

Ordered that Mr Henry Buxton Treasurer pay the Petic[i]o[ne]r the summe of 4 li.
