The petition of William Burnett of Colton, Staffordshire, 4 October 1653

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace for the County of Stafford.
The humble Petition of W[illia]m Burnett of Coulton in the said County, a maymed souldier
Humbly sheweth
That whereas your poore petitioner haueing beene allowed to be a pentioner in this Countie & to haue quarterley x s. & haue had it from tyme trulie to tyme trulie paid, but of late Mr Morrell late Treasurer for the maymed Souldiers whoe is behynd of his paie xv s. & it is for the twoe last Sessions, ech Sessions 7 s. 6 d. & never rec[eive]d any more but 2 s. 6 d. & cannott haue it from him, although he hath often beene requested the same, & now the said Mr Morrell being out of his place & a new one chosen whoe denyeth alsoe to pay the said xv s. to the great greife & misery of yo[u]r poore petitioner.
The pr[e]misses considered, yo[u]r poore petitioner humbly beseecheth your good worshipps, in your accustomed cleamencie & pitty that you would be pleased to Order soe that your poore petitioner may haue the said xv s. paid him towards his future maintenance, whoe wanteth many necessaries for to subsist w[i]th:
And your goodnes shewed to yo[u]r petitioner herein he shall as in dutie is bownd ever to pray for your Worshipps.
