The petition of William and Anne Yate of Northwich, Cheshire, Trinity 1657

To the Right Hon[ou]r[a]ble the Justises of peace here assembled at this p[re]sent quarter sessiones
The humble p[eti]tion of William Yate of Northwiche and Anne his wiefe
Most humbly sheweth to yo[u]r honorse that yo[u]r p[e]titioners beinge verie honest and sufficient people and haueinge lived in a veri honest Callinge and did bringe vp there Children verie sufficiently and well beside yo[u]r p[e]titioner haueing bine a listed souldier for the Common wealth vnder the Comand of Captaine Piggote and haueinge receved but littell pay at all and nowe by reason of A great and tirrible fyer which hapned the 20th day of June in Northwhich in the yeare 1655 which did not onely burne downe one which house or salte house of yo[u]r said p[e]titioners but also the most part of yo[u]r said p[e]titioners dwellinge house which ho[u]ses weare so great to the value of fowre score & vpwards poundes that yo[u]r p[e]titioners ar altogether disabled to live or subsiste or to bringe vp there small Children vnlese the Right Hon[our]able Bentch will Comiserate there poore Condition and grant some meanes for yo[u]r p[e]titioners better releife and yo[u]r p[e]titioners as the[y] are bound in dutie will ever pray for yo[u]r honers health & happines longe to continue
