The petition of William Allingham, Robert Hammond’s Regiment, 14 April 1648

To ye right hono[ura]ble ye Committee of Lords & Com[m]ons for ye Army.
The humble petic[i]on of W[illia]m Allingham.
Sheweth:
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r ever since ye beginning of ye late troubles hath faithfully served ye parl[iamen]t in w[hi]ch service hee hath received many dangerous wounds, and hath served in ye Company of Capt[ain] OHara in ye Regim[en]t of Col[one]l Ham[m]ond, vnder ye Comaund of his Excellency ye Lord Fairfax, where he rec[eive]d a hurt at Dartmouth of w[hi]ch he hath a long tyme languished in extreame paines & misery, being at p[re]sent vnder Cure in ye Savoy hospitall, and is thereby disabled from any future Imploym[en]t.
Now Forasmuch as yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath Arreares due to him for his said service, ye want whereof hath extreamly Impoverished him having spent all his Livelyhood occasioned by his said wounds,
yo[u]r pet[itione]r therefore most humbly prayeth that this ho[noura]ble Com[m]ittee wil bee pleased to Take his sad condic[i]on into serious Considerac[i]on & (out of yo[u]r wonted Clemency to others) to Order ye speedy paym[en]t of his said Arreares or such p[ar]te thereof as in yo[u]r wisdomes shal bee thought meet for his p[re]sent releife in this his greatest necessity
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall ever pray &c.

This petecioner William Allingham is vnder Ceur in the hospitall of the Sauoy: for the woundes he received in the Seruis of the parlament & hath lost the vse of his Left legge
