The petition of Widow Greensill of Onneley, Staffordshire, September 1651

To the Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Com[m]ission[e]rs for ye Militia for the county of Stafford
The Humble petic[i]on of the Widdowe Greenshill of Anneley in the sayd county.
Humbly sheweth that whereas, John Greensill husband to yo[u]r sayd Petic[i]on[e]r, beeing a soldier vnder the Com[m]and of Captain Cockinge beeing in the company of the sayd Captaine Cockinge, and hee w[i]th other of his fellow soldiers vppon the pursute of the enemy, yo[u]r sayd Petic[i]on[e]rs husband was slayne; The humble Request of yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r is that yo[u]r Wor[shi]pes would bee pleased out of pitty & compassion to Allow her some meanes, to maintaine her & her childe, & shee is allsoe big w[i]th another, (according as yo[u]r Wor[shi]pes in yo[u]r Wisdomes, shall thinck fit; And shee shall and will euer pray for yo[u]r Wor[shi]pes in all health & happines long to continue.
