The petition of Trooper Thomas Whiteman, Richard Graves’s Regiment, 18 May 1648

To the right hono[oura]ble the Committee of Lords and Comons for the Army.
The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Whiteman [illegible] Trooper in Colonel Grevis owne Troope vnd[e]r his Ex[cellen]cie the now Lo[rd] Gen[era]ll
Sheweth
That your pet[itione]r continued Trooper in the said Troope from 5 Aprill 1645 to the first of No[vem]ber 1646 as by his Colonels Certificate appear.
That he was Wounded vpon actuall service in the said Troope whereby he is disabled from further service and not able to get his livelyhood whereby he is in a most miserable starving Condic[i]on as appears by the Chirurgions Certificate annexed.
The pet[itione]r humbly praith your hono[u]rs to order that he may receive pr[e]sent paym[en]t of his arreares due, to releive him in this his miserable Condic[i]on other wise he must perish, it being a fauour you have piously afforded to others in the like Condic[i]on
And they will eu[er] pray &c
Graunted to State & pay.

<That the Com[m]issary Gen[era]ll of ye Musters or his Deputy doe forthwith confer certify to this Com[m]ittee how ye pet[itione]r w[i]thin named a maymed souldier stands vpon the seu[er]all Musters of the Army. & doe affix the same to this petic[i]on.>
