The petition of Trooper Thomas Killingworth, Earl of Carnarvon’s Regiment, July 1660

To the Kings most Excellent Majestie.

The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Killingworth formerly a Troopper vnder the Commaund of the Earle of Carnarvan.

Humbly sheweth

That yo[u]r poore Pet[itione]r at the Battle of Edge Hill in the service of yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties late Royall Father receiveing Fifteene daungerous wounds w[hi]ch being dressed by Serieant Clous in the presence of the Lord Culpepper, Mr John Ashburnham and Mr Thomas Davis they did afterward in favour of your poore Pet[itione]r present him and make knowne his condic[i]on and service to his late Ma[jes]tie who was then graciously pleased to grant yo[u]r Pet[itione]r (as a reward of his said service) a Pensioners place in Suttons Hospitall yet soe it is May it please yo[u]r Ma[jes]tie (the Warr increasing in w[hi]ch yo[u]r Pet[itione]r served his late Ma[jes]tie to the end and was present in the most regardable Actions of it) that by reason of the prevailing Tyrany that succeeded he never received the fruit of his said late Ma[jes]ties gratious graunt.

Yo[u]r distressed Pet[itione]r therefore humbly beseeches yo[u]r sacred Ma[jes]tie in regard he is totally disabled for his calling, That you wil be graciously pleased to confirme the said grant of yo[u]r late Royall Father, and to confer vppon him one of the said Pensioners places in Suttons Hospitall.

And as in all Loyaltie and dutie bound hee shall ever pray for yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties long and prosperous Reigne.
