The second petition of Thomas Yeates of Nantwich, Cheshire, Easter 1681

To the right worship[fu]ll the Justices of Peace for the Countie Palatine of Chester
The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Yeates of Namptwich aged 80 yeares and vpwards
Sheweth that yo[u]r poore petic[i]nor was sore wounded in his Majesties Seruice that now is And in his fathers seruice before in the late vnhappie warr, In Conside[r]at[i]o[n] where of this gratious Majestie that now is was pleased to admitt yo[u]r petic[i]nor a pencinor which hath bin payd yo[u]r petic[i]nor all alonge by Mr Hugh Delues and his father deceased vntill now of late yeares, but now of late yeares yo[u]r petic[i]nors pencion is detayned and not payd vpon what reasons yo[u]r poore petic[i]nor knowes not but yo[u]r petic[i]nor by reason of his great Age want of Eye sight & weaknes of bodie is fallen Into great pouertie and hath sould all his household goods to by foode And since hath petic[i]oned the right worshipp[fu]ll S[i]r Robert Cotton for releife from the towne of Namptwich whoe granted his worshipps warrant to the Church wardens and ouerseeyers of the s[ai]d towne, whoe haue neglected & not regarded the same
The pr[e]misses tenderly Considered yo[u]r poore peti[t]ionors humbly beseecheth this worshipp[fu]ll Bench to grant yo[u]r petic[i]nor a warrant to the said Church wardens & ouerseyers to haue mentaynance & yo[u]r pooer pet[iti]nor shall euer pray &c
Yo[u]r petic[i]nor humbly prayes to know yo[u]r worshipps order what hee must haue.
