The first petition of Thomas Yeates of Nantwich, Cheshire, Easter 1681

To the Right worshipp[fu]ll the Justices of the peace for the Countie Pallatine of Chest[e]r
The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Yeates of Namptwich aged 80 yeares and vpwards.
Humbly sheweth that upon a former peticion by him preferd to this worshipp[fu]ll bench the Last sesions: which was for som subsistance this worshipp[fu]ll bench was pleased to grant him an order to the Church wardens of the said Towne as by his peticion and order upon the same hereunto anexed doth apeare:
That the said Church wardens not Considering the great wants of yo[u]r peticion[e]r haue allowed him noe more euer since but 3 s. 2 d. the which he Receiu[e]d at fiue or six seuerall gales which did yo[u]r poore peticion[e]r noe good at all: and refuses to pay him any more notwithstanding the order afors[ai]d
Yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r most humbly prayeth yo[u]r worships to take is sad and deplorable Condicion into yo[u]r tender Consideracion and graunt him a further order to the said Churchwardens: and allow him in the same what allowance you shall in yo[u]r Charitie thinke fitt
And yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r as in duty bound will euer pray &c
