The petition of Thomas Wyke of Croston, Lancashire, 11 January 1671

To ye righte wor[ship]full his ma[jes]ties Justices of ye peace & Quoru[m] at ye generall quarter sessions at Wigan.
The humble petition of Thomas Wyke of Cronton in ye Countie of Lanc[aster]
Sheweth that yo[u]r petitioner hathe faithfullie serued his Late ma[jes]tie & alsoe his maiestie that nowe is, & neuer deserted theere seruice duringe ye late rebellion, as is well knowne by all his neighbors, & now beinge in very greate wante & necessitie, humblie begges yo[u]r worships to take his sadde [illegible] condition into yo[u]r consideration & to allowe what pension yo[u]r good worships shall thinke meete & usuall to indigent and impotente souldiers for his presente subsistence, beinge aged & lamed & soe not able to worke for his lyuinge And yo[u]r petitioner shall as in duty bounde praye for The pre yo[u]r good worships healthe & happines &
Wee make boulde to certifie that the contents of this petition are true, very well knowinge that hee hathe beene faithfull in all his seruices to theere ma[jes]ties and alsoe is nowe a very greate obiecte of Charitie witnes my handes ye 11th of January 1670
