The petition of Thomas Wise of Glapthorn, Northamptonshire, Epiphany 1678

To the right wo[rshipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace for the County of North[amp]ton[shire].
The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Wise of Glapthorne in this County.
Humbly Sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r Petic[i]oner haveing faithfully served his Ma[jes]tie & his Royall Father in the late warres As by severall Certificates hereto annexed may appeare And whereas att Epiphany Sessions In the fowerteenth yeare of his now Ma[jes]t[y]s reigne this Court was pleased to order yo[u]r Petic[i]oner an yearely Penc[i]on of Three pounds p[er] ann[um] to be paid quarterly. And whereas yo[u]r Petic[i]oner haveing beene for severall yeares out of ye County hath much Arreares of the said Penc[i]on due vnto him, And being now in very great wants & reduced to a low Condic[i]on
Most humbly therefore beseecheth yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to take his Condic[i]on into yo[u]r tender Considerac[i]on and to be pleased to contynue yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs said Penc[i]on, that that he may receive the Arreares thereof that rests due to him, and to that end to vouchsafe yo[u]r Order to ye Treasurers of the East division of this County for ye payment thereof accordingly.
And yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r (as in duty bound) shall pray &c.
It is ordered yt the Petic[i]on[e]rs penc[i]on bee continued (but noe arreares to be p[ai]d).
