The petition of Thomas Welton, City and County of Canterbury, 1687

To the right Wor[shi]pfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace for the East division of the said County.
The humble Petition of Thomas Welton of the Citty of Canterbury Pipemaker Aged Fourscore and one yeares.
<Sheweth>
That your Petitioner by reason of old Age and of severall Wounds which hee received in the service of King Charles the first and in the service of severall other Princes beyond the seas hee is now not Able to worke of his trade as formerly Whereby he is reduced to very much Poverty.
Wherefore he humbly Prays your Wor[shi]ps would Please to bestow on him a Pention out of the County stock towards his support & maintenance For which he shall ever Pray &c.
Wee desire the Petitioner may bee releived herein, he being a fitt object of Charity.
