To the Right Honorable his Ma[jes]ties Cheiffe Justeses of the Peace for theese present Assises

The humble Petition of Thomas Venables of the Lower Yatehouse in the Countie afforesaid Laborer

Humblie

Sheweth vnto yo[u]r hono[u]rs that yo[u]r poore petit[i]o[ne]r, both was and hath binn ever faithfull and true, booth vnto his Ma[jes]tie w[hi]ch now is, and lickwise, vnto his Royall Father of Famous memorie, and hath bin in seauerall places in his ma[jes]ties searuic{e} and hath booth ventured his liffe and lickwise spent and wasted that poore estate w[hi]ch hee yo[u]r poore petitioner had then at that present,
At the beginninge wheire yo[u]r poore petition[e]r did first take vp armes was at Chester vnder the Com[m]and of S[i]r Thomas [illegible] Aston where I hee went vnto Meidlewich and theire was taken prisoner and wounded, and after yo[u]r poore petition[e]r was was set at libertie went vnto Chumley Hall and theire remained a longe tyme, and from thence went vnto Lapelton, and from thence vnto Chumley againe beinge our Garrinson [sic.], and lickwise was at Bartomley, and Crew hall, and at the takinge of Hardin Castle, and at the skirmich w[i]th the Scots at Halefford, and presently after to the seigh at the Nantwich, and from the Nantwich wee went vnto the Com[m]and of Maior [illegible] Spotwood vnder the Com[m]and of Col[one]l Marrow, and beinge a saruant after thi{s} Marched w[i]th the yonge Barron of Kinderton vnder Prince Morris his Com[m]and vnto the takinge of Lester, and soe vnto Nesbay, and soe back againe vnto Chester and soe remained the tyme of the seigh, wherein yo[u]r poore petition[e]r is brought into penurie and want

May it theirefore plaise yo[u]r peti Honnors to Consider the premises and to grant that yo[u]r poore petitioner may bee admitted pentioner beinge hee hath bin ever faithfu{l} vnto his Ma[jes]tie and as hee is bound will ever pray &c

I desire ye Justices of peace at theire next Quart[e]r Sessions to take care herein
